Cannes Film Festival 2024: Selection of The Short Films Competition and La Cinef

The 77th Festival de Cannes has announced its Short Film Competition and La Cinef selection, with Belgian actress Lubna Azabal leading the jury.

Lubna Azabal, known for her roles in films like "Exils" and "Sofia," is joined by notable industry figures Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar, Paolo Moretti, Claudine Nougaret, and Vladimir Perišić.

Azabal's career trajectory from theater to acclaimed films resonates with the theme of the festival, highlighting the journey of young filmmakers. She expresses anticipation for the "demanding and kind" journey of discovering short films.

In the Short Films Competition, 11 films from 10 countries have been selected out of 4,420 submissions. The Short Film Palme d’or will be awarded during the festival's closing ceremony.

The La Cinef selection includes 18 shorts from film schools worldwide, reflecting the global mobility of film students. The jury will award prizes preceding the screening of the selected films.

Both selections showcase diverse talent and promise to be a celebration of emerging filmmakers on the international stage.
